The Legendary Bull “Tajiri-go” – Pioneer of Wagyu’s Future

Tajiri-go is an essential figure in the history of Wagyu. His story embodies the very essence of Wagyu culture.

Birth and Upbringing

Born in 1939 in Hyogo Prefecture, Tajiri-go was carefully raised by local farmer Matsuzo Tajiri. Though not exceptional in physique, Mr. Tajiri recognized his potential and nurtured him with great dedication.

The Breeding Bull That Saved Wagyu

From 1941 to 1954, Tajiri-go served as a breeding bull, producing approximately 1,500 offspring, many of which became outstanding breeding bulls active throughout Japan. He made a particularly significant contribution to the revival of Tajima cattle, with 99.9% of current Japanese Black cattle inheriting his bloodline.

Legacy to Wagyu Culture

Tajiri-go’s existence symbolizes the foundation of Japanese food culture. He established the basis for premium-branded beef such as Kobe Beef and Matsusaka Beef. His story will continue to be passed down, inspiring many people with emotion and pride.
